What to do and see!

Orihuela is also old town known for its cultural wealth, cobbled streets and ancient buildings. Within this city there are many sites to see such as churches, palaces, museums and national monuments 5 of which are must sees in Spain. Here are some examples of some you can see:

Cabo Roig tower is one of the main sites to see here. Located next to the Cabo Roig beach, this a military tower that was built back in the 16th century and designed to protect from pirate attacks!

Take a mud bath in the mar menor. This mud has natural attributes that are known for helping with skin issues and some pains an aches. 

Orihuela has a great location making It easy to take a trip to surroundings cities like Cartagena and Alicante if you want to enjoy more Spanish culture and other unique cities. You could even visit the city of salt, Torrevieja.

Beaches: 

The blue flag beaches of Orihuela Costa stretch out to 16 kilometers of the coast.  You not only can take a dip in the crystal clear Mediterranean sea or relax on the clean beaches but there are plenty of things that can be done at the beaches such as snorkelling, water skiing, wind surfing and sailing. You can even hire a pedalo on the beach and enjoy a few hours on the water.

The term ¨blue flag beaches¨ means that the beaches have been checked for their water quality (no waste water/sewage), the beaches is maintained well (there are bathrooms and there is no rubbish) and they pay special attention to all swimmers as there are a lot of lifeguards for protection. 

Each beach of course has its peaks and own charms. Close to Cabo Roig, Cala Capitán (a cove) is the perfect place for snorkeling or watching the water as its so clear you can see the fish in the water. 

If you are feeling like having a drink at a beach bar or for evening entertainment La Zenia is the beach for you. There are restaurants located on a cliff that over look the sea that add an extra special touch.

Playa de la Glea, located in Campoamor is one of the best places to get a real taste of Spanish culture, with the simply stunning surroundings and greenery this is yet another place to put on your ¨must visit¨ list. Other favorite beaches include Punta Prima and  Playa Flamenca.

Along the meditarian sea and waterfront, Orihuela Costa has a variety of spectacular restaurants serving traditional Spanish food so you can take in all of the Spanish culture.
